Some reviews of some of the stories in Gutterfish.

New to Mr. Jones, but not his kind; my kind. A fellow who surfs the annals of experience for “the good, the bad, and the ugly”, only to turn them onto their heads with an unflinchingly satirical force. As soon as one opens the “wounds” of such a veteran of ‘strangling molecular codes’, as i shall call them here, one can’t help but feel the energy fierce enough to float and cook the egg at the same time. Mr. Jones takes only the liberties he knows damn straight are his birth-rite, weaving them together like a turn of the century afghan, or quilt to Mr. Jones and myself; an understanding on the grounds knowing the run of steadfast New England heretics. LSD 25,000 had me from it’s title; cliche for the new and old underground alike. However, when introducing a piece of prose post those who are, were, and forever will be cannons of the Literary American Madness (there is no argument in the veritable who’s who of those in and of the cannons the L.A.M.), it bleeds but the squares blood, the likes of which Mr. Jones uses as ink to lay his unique style of awesome funny bone wickedness DOWN.

-Jack Shaw “highjackflash”- on, LSD 25,000 ********************************************************** Without ever having popped the cork on a fresh bottle of; ‘these bitches owe me their ass’ or heard to snap of vein that didn’t get away Edaurdo Jones can walk you down that street and straight into the alley that follows. The truth, a junkies truth is so hard to come by, mostly because the ones with stories worth sharing never make it out to tell, Edaurdo has DONE both. I have lived in the shoes he shares, the life of spitting in the devils face for kicks. He had me laughing, nodding, wanting to cry and gave me an itch I’ll be scratching for hours now. “Brain Bugs” is not just a story of two would be dead men, it is a testimony of how it was. I speak for myself here when I say; those days were something I never want to revisit unless on paper, and I thank Mr. Jones for allowing me to take that RIDE with him. Murphy Clamrod-Brain bugs ************************************************************* A Review of Edaurdo Jones’ “The End of the Beginning……” This tale of woe brings to mind realities, and stages of growth. There is a natural, and normal element as there is to most of life, and a progression that highlights the circulatory nature of things. The holistic nature of children….”virgins”, “unmolested”, with so much potential and hope. We are transported to the cycle of age progression by way of the big black hole that is in us all. The desire for money, property and prestige that our own inner forces and society drive so expertly become the new norm. Through this, we find ourselves looking for something, anything to fill the void. Mr. Jones found his solution and problem in this cycle. The lure of drugs, and the Hollywood visions of all the money that comes with it, and all the solutions that are believed to be had from that money. Combined with the lure of a sense of ease and comfort which inevitably comes with the “first” hit, and a desire to replicate that, make it easy to understand how one can fall prey. Sometimes, circle equals spiral, and creates dizziness like on a merry go round gone mad. The childhood desire to stay on the merry go round as long as possible because its fun, gets supplanted by the idea that, as we progress though our lives, we do it because we must. We do it because the merry go round is a drill bit digging deeper and deeper and the hole may be just too deep for us to survive or crawl out of. Chasing the drug gets replaced with chasing yet another solution to the empty hole in ourselves we are forced to face. The good news is, and as evidenced by Mr Jones incomparable talent, equilibrium can be restored. As the drill bit enters, it can also exit. It may be as the result of a violent bounce back from the bottom of that hole. For some, maybe it takes less, but it always starts with that admonition things aren’t going as well as planned. It is fueled by that idea of personal responsibility, and a desire for change. Life or death… or not. This is a great read for anyone who has been through, is facing now, or wants to avoid this path. Maybe, just maybe if enough get the message, and adhere to a personal responsibility credo, the society that “molests” our psyche and makes all this such an appealing option will begin to change too. The virgin snow awaits. Jack Varnell
